Book: Making Data Talk

Making Data Talk by David Nelson, Bradford Hesse, and Robert Croyle covers health communication to three main audiences: general public, policy makers and press. It is presented largely in the context of public health, but the approaches and research it summarizes are more broadly applicable. (And I would argue that many best practices about communicating with the public would be equally useful for communicating with busy clinicians.) It gives a good introduction to a number of fields, and, in addition to references, each chapter provides brief suggested reading lists for those interested in delving further into the topics covered. In short, this is an excellent resource for anyone interested in an overview of health communication research and methods.
